1 – Mutton Mechoui
Yummy mutton mechoui! The latest member of a family that has lived in Lomé for several generations, Douani Coulibaly grills pieces of mutton every day on his brazier in the town centre, near the central police station and the main mosque.
By the end of the morning, it’s ready, and you can expect to pay around 5,000 CFA francs for a shoulder, and less for a piece of rib. Once you’ve made your choice, the boss or his apprentice cut up the piece and add salt, onions and chilli – the latter packed separately.
All you have to do is eat.
Access: on the circular Bouleverd, at the central police station roundabout, head towards the grand marché / grande poste, then take the 1st left, then the 1st right. You’re there.
